Addie Carver Wins Miss Teen USA 2024 in Ethereal Sherri Hill Gown With Shimmering Details

Addie Carver has been named Miss Teen USA 2024. She wore a white gown by Sherri Hill that featured gold and silver embellishments around the neckline and waist.

The Miss Mississippi Teen USA delegate won the crown on Thursday at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles after competing in evening gown, athleticwear and interview categories.

During the Q&A round, the 17-year-old shared that mental health care initiatives will be a part of her platform as the next Miss Teen USA titleholder. She recalled how at the age of 13, after her father died following a battle with lung cancer, she found healing through dance. “My mental health struggled severely, but I was able to find hope again, and that was through the art of dance, which is why I created my own organization called Dance to Empower, which was founded on bringing the joy of dance to everyone,” she said. “As the next Miss Teen USA, I want to make it my mission to say that every little girl who was like me once is never alone.”

Ava Colindres, Miss Georgia Teen USA, was named first runner-up.

For the Miss Teen USA 2024, Sherri Hill designed the dresses worn by the finalists during the competition. Sherri Hill is an American fashion brand known for its relationship with pageantry.

Varsity Spirit, an American cheerleading company owned by Varsity Brands, created outfits for the finalists to wear during the athletic-wear eliminatory event. Founded in 1974 as the Universal Cheerleaders Association by Jeff Webb, Varsity Spirit has partnerships with the USA Cheer, the U.S. All-Star Federation (USASF) and the International Cheer Union (ICU).

The evening gown competition is a significant part of the Miss Teen USA pageant, occurring both during the preliminary and final rounds. The contestants are judged by their elegance and grace, poise and confidence and overall presentation and style.

The Miss Teen USA pageant features representatives from all 50 states and the District of Columbia. This year’s judging panel included actress Francia Raísa, former “Dancing With the Stars” teacher Rylee Arnold, influencer Alyssa Carson, Miss Teen USA 2019 Kaliegh Garris and model Shree Saini. The event provides a platform for young women to showcase their talents, intelligence and leadership skills.

In May, former Miss Teen USA 2023 UmaSofia Srivastava gave up her title citing a conflict in personal values with the Miss USA organization. Stephanie Skinner, the runner-up of the Miss Teen USA 2023, declined to take over the title after Srivastava, leaving the position vacant.

Srivastava’s announcement came days after Miss USA 2023 Noelia Voigt also stepped down from her title. The current Miss USA 2023 is Savannah Gankiewicz of Hawaii.

The 42nd Miss Teen USA is sponsored by activewear brand Varsity Spirit, fashion brand Sherri Hill, Ricardo Patraca Crowns and Crown Couture Collection. Rachel Lindsay from “The Bachelorette” and Justin Sylvester from E! News were chosen as hosts for the event.
