The Los Angeles Chargers got unfortunate news when it was announced that superstar quarterback Justin Herbert was diagnosed with plantar fascia in his right foot. Herbert is now out for the preseason but is expected to return for the season opener, which is a silver lining.

But hours after the injury was announced, Herbert was spotted with rookie wide receiver Ladd McConkey. The Georgia product has become a favorite target for Herbert after being selected in the second round of the 2024 NFL Draft.

As it turns out, Herbert and McConkey were in the weight room together, with the quarterback's foot in a boot, per Chargers reporter Daniel Popper.

"Justin Herbert was working in the weight room along with Ladd McConkey. Herbert had a boot on his right foot."

Herbert is dealing with an injury but is still building a relationship with the rookie wide receiver.

As such, fans were quick to show their support for the signal-caller.

Fans took note of Herbert and McConkey's relationship despite the quarterback being injured.

"Ladd refusing to catch from anyone but Herbert. Building chemistry on and off the field," one fan wrote. Another said, "Great news, he still working out with Ladd." Another fan wrote, "Lets gooo he a machine !!!"

Others had their minds at ease with this post from Popper.

"Yeah he’s going to be alright lol," another fan said.

The Chargers first preseason game is on August 10 against the Seattle Seahawks. With Herbert out, it will be some combination of Easton Stick, Max Duggan, and Casey Bauman.

Still, Herbert is expected back for Week 1 against the Las Vegas Raiders, and it is evident that he has no intentions of being away from the team despite the injury.
