Simone Biles extended her record as the most decorated gymnast in U.S. history during the individual vault finals at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Biles performed "The Biles II," the most difficult vault in competition, and nailed it.

After earning a 15.700 on the Yurchenko double pike, she performed her second vault, the "Cheng," which includes one-and-half twists in the air, and scored a 14.900. She averaged a total score of 15.300 between the two vaults, winning her seventh gold and 10th overall Olympic medal.

Brazil's Rebeca Andrade earned a combined score of 14.966 and won silver, while Team USA's Jade Carey nabbed the bronze medal with a 14.466. Speaking to reporters after the competition, Biles was asked about competing at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.

While rumors swirled that she would retire after the Paris Olympics, Biles, who hasn't lost an all-around competition since 2013, may not be ready to hang up her leotard just yet.

"Never say never," Biles said. "The next Olympics is at home, so you just never know, but I am getting really old."

Biles, who already holds the title as the oldest woman to win the all-around gold medal at age 27, will turn 31 before the next Olympics. While that's still young, for elite gymnastics, it's not. However, Biles is obviously not your average gymnast. And she's still passionate about her sport.

"Not many people in the world can do it to this level, so once we’re out here, the floor is our stage. It just feels so freeing for us," Biles continued. "We’re in our element, we’re having fun and doing what we love to do. I think that’s why I love it so much.”

Biles is the only U.S. gymnast to ever win the all-around gold medal twice, and the only gymnast ever to do so eight years apart. Should Biles return to compete in Los Angeles, she could possibly break swimmer Katie Ledecky's current record as the most decorated U.S. female athlete (14 medals.).

As for her remaining events in Paris, Biles can add two medals to her collection when she competes in the individual balance beam final sand floor exercise final on August 5.
