The Dodgers beat the Philadelphia Phillies 5-3 on Monday. It was an emotional return for first baseman Freddie Freeman and a big night for a bullpen that preserved a slim lead against the NL’s winningest team. The Dodgers (66-47) are half a game behind the Phillies (66-46) for the best record in the National League.

Here’s what else you might have missed Monday

Dodgers Designate Cavan Biggio For Assignment

The Dodgers have announced the designation for assignment of Cavan Biggio to make space for Freddie Freeman’s return from the family emergency list. Biggio became expendable with Freeman back and other players nearing their return from injuries. During his stint with the Dodgers, Biggio managed to hit three home runs and drove in 10.

Dodgers’ Freddie Freeman Breaks Silence on Son’s Health Scare

Freeman returned to the Dodgers following his son Maximus’s discharge from ICU, where he was treated for Guillain-Barré syndrome. An emotional Freeman expressed his ordeal and shared that his son is now recovering and undergoing physical therapy. This comeback could boost the Dodgers, who have missed Freeman’s presence significantly.

Dodgers Prospect Dalton Rushing is Getting Promoted

In more uplifting news, top prospect Dalton Rushing was promoted to Triple-A after a notable performance at Double-A Tulsa. Rushing is shining with a .438 batting average and significant home runs early in August. This shift is a step closer to his potential call-up to the major leagues, possibly even this season if his stellar performance continues.
