The Los Angeles Angels certainly can't catch a break.

The Angels struggled last year and eventually lost two-way superstar Shohei Ohtani in free agency to the cross-town rival Los Angeles Dodgers. Los Angeles entered the season hoping to show some signs of progress and hopefully make a run at a playoff spot but injuries have completely decimated the club all year.

Los Angeles has been missing Mike Trout for a while now and a handful of other players also have been out due to injuries. One player who has been a bright side for the Angels this season, though, has been utility man Luis Rengifo.

He has shined in his role playing all over the field and has been a spark plug for the Angels in the middle of the lineup. Rengifo has been so good this year that he was in trade rumors for months as it was speculated that a handful of contenders wanted to acquire him for the stretch run.

Los Angeles ended up hanging on to Rengifo, but it will be without his services for the rest of the season as he reportedly is done for the season after undergoing wrist surgery, according to FanSided's Robert Murray.

"Angels infielder Luis Rengifo underwent wrist surgery," Murray said. He’s out for the season."

Rengifo undoubtedly was having the best season of his career and was slashing .300/.347/.417 through 78 games with six home runs, 30 RBIs, and 24 stolen bases. Hopefully, he will be able to fully recover before the 2025 campaign kicks off.
