Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed pitcher Brusdar Graterol exited his 2024 debut with a right hamstring strain.

Graterol threw just eight pitches on Tuesday after missing the first four and a half months of the season with right shoulder inflammation. On the eighth pitch, Graterol appeared to injure his right leg. He got checked out by Dodgers trainers before limping off the field with the help of the trainers. Graterol was very emotional as he left the field.

Here’s a video of the pitch:

Graterol made eight rehab appearances and finally was able to rejoin Los Angeles on Monday. He was able to return to the Dodger Stadium mound after an extended absence, and was expected to immediately make an impact in high-leverage situations.

This is just another blow for the Dodgers in a season full of injuries to key players. For Graterol, it’s a brutal way for his season debut to end.

The Dodgers have 38 games and less than eight weeks remaining in the regular season. The Dodgers determined Graterol has a Grade 3 strain, which likely ends his season.

It’s a devastating blow to a pitcher whose season had just begun after a long wait.

Now, the wait for Graterol to return to the mound could be even longer than the last.
