A jury has convicted two men of murder in the South-Central Los Angeles robbery of rapper PnB Rock on Wednesday.

Per Rolling Stone , Freddie Trone’s 17-year-old son was sent to rob the entertainer whose real name is Rakim Allen. Trone’s co-conspirator Tremont Jones was discovered to be driving the getaway vehicle. PnB Rock was 30.

Trone was found guilty of felony murder, robbery, and conspiracy. The rapper was dining at popular eatery Roscoe’s Chicken and Waffles when he was robbed and killed by Trone’s son.

The prosecution based their argument on surveillance footage which shows Trone’s son getting out of the getaway vehicle that his father and Tremont were in. The cameras also show the 17-year-old grabbing a concealed weapon from his father and entering the restaurant. This directly contradicts a statement Trone gave on the stand during cross-examination prosecution on Monday—he’s always pled innocent to all charges.

“I understand you’re trying to put together your story,” Trone said in a Compton, California, courtroom before closing arguments began. “I never had nothing to do with it. I wasn’t there. I didn’t tell nobody to do nothing. I didn’t hand nobody no gun.”

PnB Rock’s mother Deanna Allen found out about court proceedings through social media as we previously reported . She shared her thoughts on the verdict through the press.

“I’m elated,” Allen said. “I wanted to jump up and scream, ‘Hallelujah.’ I’m so happy it was quick. We got justice for Rakim. I feel better knowing they’ll be in jail for a long time.”

Trone’s sentencing is set for Aug. 27. We’ll share more on sentencing for others involved as news becomes available.
