Local hospice facility recognized as one of best in nation
BELINGTON, W.Va (WDTV) - Since 1991, Mountain Hospice has taken care of people in their most precious days, and recently, they were recognized as one of the best facilities in the state with their Hospice Honors Award win. The award was given out by a third-party organization called Hospices Caps, which surveys families of people whose loved ones are in end-of-life care.
$74,000 in counterfeit money recovered in Alderson
ALDERSON W.Va. (Hinton News) - Police in Alderson have recovered an astounding $74,000 in counterfeit money following an investigation. According to an official statement, the counterfeit money was "in denominations of 20, 50 and 100 dollar bills." Officers remind the public to "Please be responsible and diligent by checking the bills at your businesses and or if you sell something." The statement advised that, "These bills, while they look authentic, are not. Printed in the top right corner is 'For Motion Picture Purposes.'" Officials advise if any of these bills are passed to please contact Chief Todd Williams at 304-445-2355 or 304-667-9000. Pierpont Tech hosts Future Nurses program
BRIDGEPORT, W.Va (WDTV) - Pierpont Technical and Community College has continued to engage with the greater North Central West Virginia and especially with the local youth. This week we’ve already seen Pierpont extend their resources and knowledge to the local youth through other programs, but through another program they’re hoping to inspire the next wave of nurses. Pierpont’s Future Nursing Program has been taking place at their advanced technology center this week, in hopes of encouraging high school juniors and seniors of choosing a career in the field. Pierpont officials like, Miki DeMary-Andrew, are hoping to not only instill the right practices in these students, but also grow their interest in the field as a whole.

Camping ordinance changes under debate in Morgantown
MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — Members of the Morgantown community have voiced their views on a potential camping ban focused on the downtown area. Representatives from Main Street Morgantown, West Virginia University, as well as Morgantown area unsheltered homeless advocates and many others, each expressed a combination of approval and disapproval of the proposal first brought forth by City Councilor Louise “Weezie” Michael earlier in July as part of the council’s regular meeting Tuesday. Close to three dozen residents or organization representatives were in attendance, some with varying waves of support for the proposal and opposition, with over a dozen willing to address the council as part of a proposal that hasn’t even received a formal ordinance.
