Brutal heat continues into next week around Kern County
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — An Excessive Heat Warning remains in effect through Thursday, July 11th at 11 p.m., and may need to be extended further as the week progresses. Bakersfield is expecting a high of 108 Friday, with 112 on Saturday, 113 on Sunday, 111 on Monday and 110 or higher next Tuesday through Thursday.
23-year-old Bakersfield man arrested after report of shots fired on Batch Lane
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KBAK/KBFX) — A 23-year-old man was arrested after deputies were called to a report of shots fired on Batch Lane. The Kern County Sheriff’s Office said on July 5, 2024, at around 1:02 a.m., deputies assigned to the Kern County Sheriff’s Office Metropolitan Patrol Division were called to a home in the 3100 block of Batch Lane in Bakersfield for shots fired.

Three teams of high school students from Southern California prepared Friday to head to Texas to compete in an annual solar-powered car race with cars they designed and built.
