Fire crews to remain at Orchard Fire near Tehachapi through Friday
Kern County Fire Department crews are slated to remain at the Orchard Fire, which burned 830 acres near Tehachapi, through Friday morning. The vegetation fire, at times Wednesday producing 40-foot flames, burned on the north side of Highland Road just west of Tehachapi Willow Springs Road. It grew from five acres as afternoon winds moved the fire toward Highline Road, according to KCFD.

Grande Fire in Stanislaus County near Patterson grows to 323 acres
STANISLAUS COUNTY – Firefighters say the forward progress of a wildfire in rural Stanislaus County near Patterson has been stopped.The incident has been named by Cal Fire as the Grande Fire. It's burning west of Patterson, across from Interstate 5, near Del Puerto Canyon Road and Diablo Grande Parkway.As of 11:30 a.m., Cal Fire numbers show that the wildfire has grown to 323 acres with 30% containment. No evacuation orders or warnings are in effect at this time. Exactly what started the fire is under investigation.
