Now that we’re in the second half of 2024 — how did that happen? — we’re opening submissions for our 2024 Picture of the Year contest. Through the end of the year, we’re asking you to submit the best pictures you’ve taken in and around Louisville. Don’t worry, we’ll casually remind you a few more times before the deadline.

Rules + details

You can submit up to five photos, but each must have been taken by you during 2024. Each photo submission should include a visual element that directly connects to Derby City.

Examples include a photo from a local sporting event, music performance, festival, or other 2024 happening; a picture taken at a local park; or a shot that highlights a landmark in our city. Photos that do not include a local element will not be considered. Additionally, photos that include nudity or offensive language or visuals will not be accepted.

Finalists will be selected by our team and announced in the newsletter, and you, our readers, will have the chance to vote for LOUtoday’s 2024 Picture of the Year. The winner will be announced at the start of 2025.

• Take a nature pic in one of LOU’s many parks or while out on a hike .
• Snap a photo of your morning Joe at your favorite local coffee shop or your evening libation during happy hour .
• Capture the action at one of the many summer events happening in and around Derby City.
