Louisville's pizza scene is heating up.

Months after the arrival of a second location of The Post in the Highlands and the relocation of a longtime Bearno's Pizza spot, which boasts "Louisville-style pizza," there are more even places for pie popping up around town.

Read on for details about five new-to-Louisville pizzeria locations around town.

    Craft House Pizza

    1500 S. Shelby St., crafthousepizza.com

This popular Kentucky-based pizza chain opened its seventh location in early July near Shelby Park. Craft House Pizza offers more than just the dish that shares its name. You'll find appetizers such as baked meatballs and bacon cheese fries, salads, sandwiches such as a chicken club and stromboli club and pastas including baked spaghetti and lasagna. Popular pies are topped with pickles, inspired by a bacon cheeseburger and one in honor of a hot brown. Craft House Pizza serves beer from its adjoined business, Hometown Brewing Company.

In March, Craft House Pizza opened a location at Colonial Gardens, 816 W. Kenwood Drive. Other spots can be found on Preston Highway and in Jeffersontown, Fern Creek and Lawrenceburg.

    Derby City Pizza

    2224 Dundee Road, derbycitypizza.com

The "coming soon" sign outside the former Dundee Tavern, a neighborhood bar in the Highlands, has been up for weeks. Derby City Pizza, a Louisville-based chain, will soon take over the bar, the Courier Journal previously reported. This will be the 10th location of Derby City Pizza, which also has another location on the way in Jeffersonville, Indiana. The shop serves "Southern-style" pies such as barbecue chicken pizza and chicken ranch pizza. The menu also includes gluten-free and crustless options, along with sub sandwiches, pasta dishes, salads, and wings.

    Marco's Pizza

    4082 Taylorsville Road, marcos.com

A new location of Marco's is adding to the mix of pizza choices. Billed as "one of the nation’s fastest-growing pizza brands," according to a news release, Marco's Pizza will open its third Louisville location on July 29 at 4082 Taylorsville Road. Along with classic options, the menu features pizza bowls, CheezyBread and sub sandwiches such as one made with steak and cheese. Pizzas are made with fresh dough made daily in each store and garlic-flavored crust, according to the release.

    New York Pizza Company

    2354 Frankfort Ave., facebook.com/profile.php?id=61556454565211

You can now taste a slice of New York in Louisville. New York Pizza Company opened recently in Clifton, bringing "authentic New York-style thin crust pizza" here, according to its Facebook page. Pizzas are created with dough made daily in-house. The menu also features salads and desserts, such as cheesecake. Orders can be made by phone at 502-963-5756.

    Wheated Louisville

    1553 Bardstown Road, facebook.com/profile.php?id=61553440504426

Here's another spot to get your New York-style pizza fix. Wheated soft-opened in late June in the Highlands. The shop's hours are 5-10 p.m. Wednesday-Saturday and 5-9 p.m. Sunday. It serves "well done" pizza made with sourdough crust, salads, wine, and cocktails, among other menu items.
