JCPS calendar: Important dates to know for the 2024-2025 school year

Summer is coming to a close, and there are only a few more days before teachers and about 96,000 students return to Jefferson County Public Schools classrooms.

The first day for students is Thursday, Aug. 8, while the last day is Friday, May 23 — depending on whether or not students will need to make up any days.

Here are important dates to know for the 2024-2025 school year:

Monday, Sept. 2: Labor Day

Sept. 30-Oct. 1: Family-teacher conferences and professional development

Oct. 2-4: Fall break

Nov. 4: Professional development

Nov. 5: Election Day

Nov. 27-29: Thanksgiving break

Dec. 23-Jan. 3: Winter break

Jan. 20: Martin Luther King Jr. Day

Feb. 17-18: Family-teacher conferences and professional development

March 28: Professional development

March 31-April 4: Spring break

May 2: Oaks Day
