    Say goodbye to summer. When you can make the last splash of the season in Louisville pools

    School is almost back in session , which means children (and their parents) should take advantage of Louisville area pools to soak in the last bit of summer.

    It feels like pools opened just yesterday (on May 25), but the time to enjoy them is almost done for this year's summer season.

    Here is what to know about the pools in Louisville:

    When do Louisville pools close?

    The last day to use Louisville pools will be on Saturday, Aug. 3, Katey Cook, a spokesperson for Louisville Parks and Recreation, said.

    What Louisville outdoor pools opened for summer 2024?

    Cook previously said two outdoor pools are open this summer:

    Sun Valley Pool at Sun Valley Park

    Where: 6505 Bethany Lane

    When: Open six days a week from noon to 5 p.m. Will be closed on Wednesdays.

    Fairdale Pool at Nelson Hornbeck Park

    Where: 709 Fairdale Road

    When: Open six days a week from noon to 5 p.m. Will be closed on Mondays.

    Are there indoor pools in Louisville?

    The Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center in Crescent Hill Park, 201 Reservoir Road, is open 5 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday and from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday.

    The Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center will be closed from Aug. 1 to Sept. 2 for renovations and routine cleaning, The Courier Journal previously reported . The pool will reopen at 5 a.m. on Sept. 3.
