Canton to improve Sixth Street NW to prepare for Palace Theatre expansion
CANTON – Canton City will improve Sixth Street NW to help with the Canton Palace Theatre’s planned multimillion-dollar expansion. City Council on Monday approved setting aside $650,000 to relocate a storm sewer and waterline along Sixth Street NW and to start the design work of a streetscape improvement project along Sixth Street and Court Avenue NW. Streetscape improvements seek to improve the aesthetics of a road, often with updated sidewalks, trees and lighting.
Canton buying former Arby's next to the Canton Civic Memorial Center
Canton City Council on Monday agreed to purchase the former Arby’s property at 1125 Market Ave, N for up to $600,000. City leaders say acquiring the property will provide some needed space to the north of the civic center and allow the city to eventually renovate and expand its bathrooms.
