After nerve-wracking flight, Justin Thomas soars with 66 at TOUR Championship
ATLANTA – Justin Thomas thought he was safe, but he wasn’t going to stick around to find out. Thomas’ spot in the TOUR Championship was in question when he finished the BMW Championship early Sunday. It would take an unfortunate confluence of events, and a lot of good play from the people behind him in the FedExCup standings, to bump him from the 30-man field that assembled this week at the restored East Lake Golf Club.

ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Forget “Law & Order.” “The Lincoln Lawyer”? Been there, done that. And don’t even get started on “Matlock.”. Collin Morikawa goes nuclear; matches PGA Tour career-best at Tour Championship
ATLANTA — The only thing hotter than the 95-degree heat that scorched East Lake on Thursday was Collin Morikawa on the back nine. He made six straight birdies, pouring in par-breakers on holes 10 through 15, soaring up the leaderboard and into contention. In doing so, Morikawa matched his own personal PGA Tour record. He last made six consecutive birdies during the first round of The Sentry, which, funny enough, also came on holes 10 through 15 at Kapalua. But he unfortunately blew a massive 54-hole lead that week, losing to Jon Rahm by a pair.
Former Georgia Bulldog defensive lineman released by Atlanta Falcons
Another former Bulldog was cut in the final round of roster cuts, as the Atlanta Falcons have parted ways with Zion Logue ahead of the NFL’s 53-man roster deadline. Logue was selected in the sixth round (No. 197 overall) in the 2024 NFL draft by the Falcons and looked to potentially compete for a starting or bench nose tackle spot with his run-stuffing abilities. Unfortunately, he was unable to make the Falcons’ 53-man roster, as the Falcons are essentially full at nose tackle with David Onyemata and former Clemson Tiger Ruke Orhorhoro.
Desmond Ridder's release raises questions for Atlanta's front office
The Arizona Cardinals released former Atlanta starting quarterback Desmond Ridder early this week. It is a move that points to how far the Atlanta starter has fallen in what has been only a three-year career. While it is a great example of why the 2023 Falcons failed any victory laps taken over the move would be ill-advised.
