CHEYENNE, Wyo. — Street vendors took to the Cheyenne Depot Plaza and 15th Street on Wednesday for the city’s annual block party. Games and attractions proliferated the street through much of the day. The Wyoming Dairy Goat Association held a makeshift petting zoo consisting of dairy goats, Colorado mountain dogs and chickens. In addition, kids lined up to climb a rock climbing wall, ride a mechanical bull or dunk one another at a water tank game.

Construction underway at former Ranch Inn site
JACKSON, Wyo. — For those wondering why there’s a pile of rubble where the Ranch Inn used to be, a mixed-use condominium and retail building is going up in its place. Construction is underway at the 1.2-acre parcel on Pearl Avenue that includes the addresses of 50 S Cache St and 45 and 75 E Pearl Ave. Three buildings on the block have been demolished, including the Ranch Inn Hotel, the Ranch shops retail building at the corner of Cache and Pearl and the Under the Willow art gallery, which was adjacent to the alley on the block along Cache.
City Arborist Provides Update on Trees in Sheridan
Officials with the City of Sheridan recently received an update from City Arborist Clark Van Hoosier. Sheridan Media’s Ron Richter has the details. The warm, dry winter has had a negative impact on the trees throughout Sheridan. City Arborist Clark Van Hoosier said there has been a widespread decline of the trees in the community because of the recent winter.
A new face for City Hall unveiled
The Douglas City Hall will soon receive a facelift, and now we have a better idea of what the nondescript building at Fourth and Center streets may look like. The city council voted in July to accept a $389,000 bid from K&R Construction, of Douglas to replace and repair the building’s facade. K&R is partially owned by Douglas City Councilman Ron McNare.
Aerial Mosquito Control Spray Planned
The City of Laramie Mosquito Control has scheduled the aerial application of Dibrom for control of adult mosquitoes in rural areas adjacent to the City for Friday July 26th, 2024, starting around 6:30 pm. Backup dates have been set for Saturday the 27th through Monday the 29th if weather conditions arise delaying the application. This application is targeted to control both nuisance and vector mosquitoes, including Culex tarsalis, which can that transmit West Nile virus (WNV).
Jail deputies find over 1,000 fentanyl pills strapped to suspect’s leg
CASPER, Wyo. — State drug enforcement agents say a suspected distributor had over 1,000 fentanyl pills attached to his leg when he was booked into jail on Monday. Taylor Cole Few, 32, was arrested Monday, July 22 after a Wyoming Highway Patrol trooper pulled him over near Casper. Wyoming Division of Criminal Investigations agents said Few became a person of interest after separate distribution investigations conducted in the last year.
