Queen City Robotics Alliance to host global hackathon
CHARLOTTE – Queen City Robotics Alliance has been selected as the Charlotte host for the 2024 NASA Space Apps Challenge, touted as the world’s largest hackathon. The event allows participants of all ages to use NASA's free and open data sources and its Space Agency Partners' space-based data to address real-world problems on Earth and in space.
July is Disability Pride Month. Here's the history behind the celebration
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — July is Disability Pride Month, an opportunity to honor the history, achievements and struggles of those with disabilities. It originated in 1990 to commemorate the passing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26. The act prohibits discrimination at work, in hospitals or doctor's offices and within transportation of any kind. It also makes it a requirement to have signs in parking spots and ensures rooms are accessible for everyone.

(AP) — A federal judge ruled Friday that a provision in North Carolina’s abortion laws requiring doctors to document the location of a pregnancy before prescribing abortion pills should be blocked permanently, affirming that it was too vague to be enforced reasonably.
