Man in Eugene douses self with gasoline, lights self on fire
EUGENE, Ore. — Eugene Springfield Fire reports crews responded to simultaneous critical calls Saturday afternoon, including a car fire, water rescue, and person on fire. At 2:05 p.m., crews were dispatched with Eugene Police officers to a person on fire at the 7-11 store located at 150 Hwy 99 N. in west Eugene.
Oregon girl one of 200 missing children found in nationwide operation
The U.S. Marshals Service (USMS), with the help of local law enforcement agencies, conducted a six-week national operation, leading to the recovery of 200 missing children. According to a news release from the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), this was the second Operation We Will Find You 2. The operation took place from May 20 to June 24. It focused on geographical areas with high clusters of critically missing children. One of the areas was Portland, Oregon.
Police: 20 pounds of methamphetamine seized during search in south Eugene
EUGENE, Ore. — On July 1, the Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit, Special Investigations Unit, and partner agencies, served a search warrant in south Eugene as part of a narcotics investigation. During the investigation, officers determined two drug transactions occurred, each of which were for two pounds of methamphetamine.

K9 officer Flex retires after nine years with Springfield Police Department
SPRINGFIELD, Ore. – One of Springfield Police Department’s finest has retired after nine years of service with the department. SPD K9 Officer Flex, who just celebrated his 11th birthday on June 25, finished his final shift with the department on June 30, according to SPD officials. Springfield police said that Flex came to the department in 2015 thanks to a community donation and began his career partnered with Officer Brian Keetle, who is now a sergeant and oversees the K9 unit. After Keetle was promoted, Flex was assigned to Officer Hargis who served as his handler for the past four years, authorities said.
