Community Spotlight: Erin-Marie Zimmerman
Erin-Marie Zimmerman owns Krafty Kreations and More, a downtown Pierre business born of a lifelong hobby of crafting and creating. “My parents got me started when I was an itty-bitty, two, three years old, and I kept up the tradition.” Her shop is especially rife with a colorful collection of hand-made gnomes, little enchanted creatures that Zimmerman learned to love. “A coworker of mine’s daughter was an avid collector and wanted to know if I could make a gnome. I wasn’t sure why, I thought they were the ugliest things I’ve ever seen – so I made a few, she loved them … she bought them all, I started making them more and more. Now I sell them around the U.S. … I’m surrounded by gnomes and I am addicted.” Zimmerman said she’s not really in her business to make money, but rather she simply likes to “make people smile.”
