Shedeur Sanders, Colorado Buffaloes

When Shedeur Sanders had time in the pocket, he was a highlight reel waiting to happen. Problem is, he rarely had time. Opponents totaled 56 sacks against Colorado last year (most in the country) and it led to 471 yards of loss for Sanders. He still had 3,230 yards and 27 touchdowns passing with three interceptions on the year and completed 69.3% of his passes.

Noah Fifita, Arizona Wildcats

Game info: Oct. 5 at Tuscon

Many in Tuscon feared that Noah Fifita may follow head coach Jedd Fisch out the door this offseason. Instead, the redshirt sophomore returned to the Wildcats and is one of the most productive gunslingers in the Big 12. Fifita earned Pac-12 freshman of the year after completing 72.3% of his passes, totaling 2,869 yards and 25 TDs to six interceptions in Arizona's turnaround campaign.

Garrett Greene, West Virginia Mountaineers

Garrett Greene became the full-time starter last year and it led to a 9-4 campaign that helped save Neal Brown's tenure in Morgantown. His dual-threat capabilities presented problems for opposing defenses (though he missed last year's game against Texas Tech). In addition to his 2,406 yards and 16 TDs passing, Greene added 772 yards and 13 TDs on the ground.

Rocco Becht, Iowa State Cyclones

Rocco Becht wasn't supposed to be Iowa State's guy at quarterback. But when the gambling investigation took Hunter Dekkers out of the equation, Becht stepped in admirably, earning Big 12 offensive freshman of the year. Becht threw for 3,120 yards and 23 touchdowns with eight interceptions and a completion percentage of 62.9.

Alan Bowman, Oklahoma State Cowboys

It was June 2017 when Alan Bowman, about to enter his senior year of high school, committed to Texas Tech. Seven years and some change later, Bowman will face his old team in what will be his seventh year of college. Many were surprised he still had eligibility last year, but Bowman wound up leading the Cowboys to the Big 12 championship game being a game manager. He totaled 3,460 yards with 15 TDs and 14 INTs and is expected to do even more as the unquestioned QB1 this year.
