LUDLOW, Mass. (WWLP) – The Ludlow Service Plaza on the eastbound side of the Mass. Pike will be closed overnight on Wednesday.

MassDot crews are repaving the entrance and exit ramps to the plaza as part of ongoing I-90 resurfacing work in the area. Motor vehicles will be allowed to enter the plaza from 9:00 p.m. Wednesday until 3:00 a.m. on Thursday. According to MassDOT spokesperson, John Goggin, the width restrictions in the area prohibits lane shifts on the ramps making full closures necessary during the work.

Travelers 22News spoke with say this may be an inconvenience for those planning to stop and rest at the plaza. “It seems like, you know, I think the next plaza it I don’t know if it’s going to be open, but another 26 miles may seem like not much, but it can be a lot when you’re already put on, you know, 50 miles or more,” said Barbra Griffin of Colrain. “And you just you know, you need a break before you head out into more dense traffic.”

Appropriate signage, law enforcement details, and advanced message boards will be in place to guide drivers through the work area.    All scheduled work is weather-dependent and/or may be impacted due to an emergency.
