    Family Crisis Center of East Texas hosting food drive for abuse survivors

    LUFKIN, Texas ( KETK ) – The Janelle Grum Family Crisis Center of East Texas is launching a food drive to ensure that children and families that are survivors of abuse have access to food throughout the summer.

    Grants filed for Tyler’s Legacy Trails renovations, includes city’s 29th park

    “The summer months can be especially challenging for families in the agency’s care,” Whitney Burran, executive director of the Family Crisis Center of East Texas, said. “Ensuring that the pantry is stocked with comforting foods is essential for the well-being of survivors. By providing these basic necessities, the agency can help them focus on healing and rebuilding their lives.”

    According to the Family Crisis Center of East Texas, donations can be dropped off at their office locations in Lufkin, Nacogdoches, Crockett and San Augustine, additionally, they have an Amazon shopping list that can also be used for donations.

    The organization is asking for the following items as part of the food drive:

    • Jellies and syrups
    • Cereals
    • Pop-Tarts
    • Canned green beans
    • Gatorade
    • Canned tomatoes (all varieties)
    • Canned soups (all varieties)
    • Canned tuna in water
    • Individually-wrapped snacks
    • Pasta
    • Cake mix
    • Cake icing
