Police seek information after man found dead on side of Lufkin road

LUFKIN, Texas ( KETK ) — The Lufkin Police Department said a man was found dead in the 100 block of Collins Street on Tuesday morning.

According to a release, a passerby found the man at around 5:15 a.m. in a grassy area beside the road. When officers arrived they reportedly found the man deceased and officials said they believe the man had been laying there for several hours.

Though the man had no identification on him, detectives believe they know who he is but are awaiting fingerprint confirmation. Once they have properly identified the man they will notify the family, officials said.

Lufkin PD said the cause of death is unknown and an autopsy has been ordered.

The investigation is currently ongoing and officials ask anyone with information to contact the police department at 936-633-0356.
