Perry School Board Meeting Monday to Review Resolution Money for Infrastructure
The Perry School Board will be meeting in regular session on Monday. The board will review a resolution to find a date for a public hearing on the proposed issuance of approximately $17 million school infrastructure sales, services and use tax revenue bonds. Other items on the agenda seeking approval during Monday’s meeting include appointments for a board secretary, board treasurer, and a legal counsel for the upcoming school year.
DMACC Director on Organization’s Mission to Assist Perry Residents
Des Moines Area Community College Director Eddie Diaz provides the resources available to residents in Perry. Diaz explains that the mission of DMACC is partnering with the community and helping in the areas that they can. The organization is collaborating with Iowa Workforce Development to transition the services they were offering at the Tyson Foods Pork Plant in Perry, and will continue to deliver them at the DMACC VanKirk Academy. Diaz tells Raccoon Valley Radio how people have been utilizing DMACC’s Resource Center.
Plan for state experts to advise other facilities on care for Iowans with disabilities
(story provided by Radio Iowa) An administrator from the now-closed Glenwood Resource Center is transferring to a role at the state-run facility in Woodward that cares for Iowans with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Two federal investigations raised concerns about how residents with serious disabilities at Glenwood were being cared for and the home was closed last month. Iowa Department of Health and Human Services director Kelly Garcia says the person she hired to stabilize medical care at Glenwood is transferring to the Woodward Resource Center.

Greater Dallas County Development Alliance Executive Director Rachel Wacker discusses the work shortage across the state of Iowa. Wacker explains that the organization hears from established Iowa businesses and also newer ones about needing more employees to work.
