There are calls for change along a busy Nassau road in the wake of multiple crashes. Lynbrook Police Chief Brian Paladino described the stretch of Peninsula Boulevard between Sunrise Highway and Hempstead Avenue as “extremely dangerous.” In that area alone, there have been four serious car crashes - one deadly - in the past month. The chief says people are driving aggressively, and on top of that, they're having to navigate confusing intersections. Kathy Reynolds’s mother, who’s in her 90s, lives at a busy intersection along the corridor. Reynolds says she’s “terrified” every day that her mom is going to get hit by somebody when she backs out of the driveway. “It’s just treacherous,” she said. “People are driving way too fast," says Paladino. The chief says an enforcement campaign has been underway in the village. He said last year, from July 1 to July 25, a total of 213 summonses were issued. During the same time period this year, 323 have been issued. Peninsula Boulevard is a county road. News 12 spoke to Nassau County Legislator Bill Gaylor, who says a traffic study is “well warranted” and he will make that request to the county DPW. "
