    Tanker fire south of Lyndon shuts down US 75

    Update 9:49 a.m.: The Osage County Sheriff’s Office says the fuel truck was a 2017 Peterbilt carrying 3,500 gallons of diesel. Roughly 1,000 gallons of diesel was estimated to have burned in the incident. The fire was believed to have started after a tire blew, puncturing the tanker. US 75 is expected to be shut down until 10:45 a.m.

    LYNDON ( KSNT ) – A tanker fire roughly four miles south of Lyndon has prompted local law enforcement to shut down US 75.

    At 7:26 a.m., KanDrive reported a vehicle fire four to six miles south of Lyndon between mile markers 276 and 278. According to Kandrive, US 75 is shut down in both directions.

    The Lyndon Police Department confirmed for 27 News that the incident involved a fuel tanker.

    Kandrive is reporting no posted detours for the area.

    The Osage County Sheriff’s Office, Osage County Emergency Management, Melvern and Lyndon Fire Departments and Osage County emergency manager responded to the incident.
