LYNN HAVEN, Fla. ( WMBB ) — Mosley’s Eli McFatter is coming off a strong junior season and preparing for more in his last year.
Eli Mcfatter has made a name for himself on the court throughout his career. He spent his freshman and sophomore seasons leading the Marlins at Arnold. Ahead of his junior year, he transferred to county rival, Mosley.
“He’s grown on the basketball court,” Mosley boys head basketball coach Derrio Green said. “More importantly, he’s just growing as a human being.”
As a junior, McFatter led Bay County in scoring. He averaged nearly 16 points per contest.
“I don’t want to sound cocky, but I don’t feel the pressure yet,” McFatter said. “It’s cool to see all these kids look up to me and just look for me when it comes to stuff like this.”
McFatter is consistently in the gym and has spent all summer competing in tournaments all over the Southeast.
“This is a full-year sport,” McFatter said. “There’s no brakes. So you got to be in the gym all the time, constantly playing.”
All of that is in preparation for the most important season of his career so far. McFatter is chasing a playoff run with the Dolphins, and also working to earn an opportunity to play an additional four years.
“I have to be the best version of myself,” McFatter said. “I just have one mindset, to bring this team as far as they can go. Colleges will look at me more as we win. They’ll see I’m a team player and that will help me.”
