Oregon football history: Ducks vs. Washington Huskies to continue on in Big Ten
As the Oregon Ducks and Washington Huskies make the move to the Big Ten, they are leaving behind some natural rivalries that were long standing matchups in the Pac-12. That’s not inherently good for the sport, but that’s the nature of conference realignment. Thankfully though, we’ll get to...
Washington is obsessed with triathlons – is it any surprise?
Sounds like an average day outdoors in Washington, right? But it's also the format of a popular endurance event: the triathlon. Triathlons are relatively new to human history - at least as a distinct sport. The first modern triathlon (with the swim/bike/run format) was held in San Diego in 1974. It wasn't until 2000 that the triathlon made its debut in the Olympic Games - which means my memory of watching the Olympic Games as a kid is a little wrong.
All-in-One: Huskies continue to reap the rewards of a big recruiting weekend (UPDATED 7/1)
The Washington Huskies may have only picked up verbal commitments from a few visitors during a weekend that saw them host 17 top 2025 prospects, six on offense and 11 on defense, but more commitments came - and there's still a few more to go. There was already one prospect who was verbally committed to Washington, running back Julian McMahan, but that gave plenty of room for the new Washington coaching staff to make their mark on all the other players they were hosting.
Monday Dots: B1G Time
Max’s Friday Dots, you know that today is the official changeover from Max to me as the UWDP Editor. Max told me a few months in advance that he was considering winding down his time as editor and I kept my fingers crossed the whole time that he would change his mind. He is great at the job: he’s passionate, he dives deep, and he comes up with insights that most of us would never consider. He has also done so much work behind the scenes to keep the site growing that I have often been in awe. So while I wish he had come to a different conclusion, I am personally grateful to Max for making UWDP a productive, informative site and a very fun community.
E-W boys basketball team earns tournament sweep as AD takes on coaching role
After longtime Edmonds-Woodway boys basketball coach Robert Brown resigned from the post in early June, the Warriors were left rudderless for the start of this year’s important four-week spring practice window. So, in stepped the school’s athletic director Tyler Geving to serve as E-W interim coach for the month....

Preseason Bowl Prediction Pits Pitt Against National Title Competitor
If a recent 2024-25 bowl projection is accurate, Pitt will square off against a school that competed in the College Football Playoff last season. Pitt went 3-9 last season and missed out on a bowl appearance for the first time since 2017 (in a non-COVID-19 season), but Bill Bender of Sporting News is projecting a bounceback for the Panthers.
Jedd Fisch’s recruiting goals at Washington are within his grasp
By Roman Tomashoff, Huskies Wire: When Jedd Fisch first stepped on campus at Washington, he made his intentions known on the recruiting trail, which was a big change of pace from other head coaches in Seattle in recent memory. “I challenged our staff, I said ‘I want the class of...
