The Moose is Loose: Mariners prospect Michael Morales finds his stride
The Mariners made a splash move in the 2024 draft, taking high school pitcher Ryan Sloan with their second-round pick, 55th overall. Sloan comes with all the bona fides you’d want to see in an early-round high school draft pick: he’s got a high-octane fastball, he’s built like a walk-in refrigerator, and he seems almost blissfully ignorant of the talent he’s been granted in his right arm (witness him talking about discovering his late-fade changeup like he found a dollar on the street).
Revisiting what Colin Cowherd got wrong on his Seahawks Mount Rushmore
First off, this is not an article that is going to trash Colin Cowherd. Is he a highly paid talking head who gets a lot of notoriety when he says salacious tidbits? Yes, of course, and he had made a good living doing that. Truth is how you want to spin it. We have learned that if a person says something often enough, in the end that becomes some kind of truth.

We’ve reported before on Burien City Manager Adolfo Bailon’s habit of calling 911, sometimes multiple times a day, to report on the presence of people he believes are using drugs, setting up tents, or behaving oddly outside the window of his office at Burien City Hall, which overlooks Town Square Park in downtown Burien. But emails obtained through a records request show that he took things a step further earlier this year when he felt the police weren’t responding quickly enough to his requests for immediate, in-person service.
A History of Helping: Deming Logging Show Marks 61 Years of Supporting ‘Busted-Up Loggers’
In 1963, a local logger named Leon Van Brocklin was injured in the woods. An injury like this could be devastating, as loggers were often the sole source of income for their families in these times. Seeing the need to help, a group of Van Brocklin’s peers organized a logging show, an exhibition of all the skills these men used in the woods every day. A local farmer donated use of a cow pasture equipped with spar trees, a pond for log rolling, and other materials for events. Charging a small fee of $1 per person, the event raised more than $800 for the injured logger, equivalent to more than $8,200 today.
