JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — A 33-year-old Illinois man drowned at Rockford Park on Big River in Jefferson County, Missouri. Guadalupe L. Lopez drowned around 1 p.m. on Tuesday, the Missouri Highway Patrol says. Lopez entered the water and went under and was pronounced dead by paramedics.

Two churches on the South Side are making Chicago proud.Salem and Progressive Baptist churches started a pilot program to help improve the reading skills of young Black boys.
