Police ticket driver who caused a crash while making a U-turn
A man was ticketed July 15 in Riverside after police responded to a car crash involving four vehicles. Just before 6 p.m. that day, an officer was dispatched to assist other police at the intersection of South Harlem Avenue and Lawton Road after a four-car crash. Owner of Sandwich-Area Property Charged with Animal Cruelty
If you're an animal lover, fair warning: This story will be tough to hear. A property owner in Sandwich has been charged with five criminal counts relating to animal cruelty. DeKalb County deputies arrested 60-year-old Mohammad Raza-Ahsan of Addison Tuesday morning. The Illinois Department of Agriculture conducted a months-long investigation into the goings-on at the property on Wagner Road in rural Sandwich, after the sheriff's office had received multiple complaints of foul odors and neglected animals on the property. The investigation led to the discovery of several neglected animals, as well as deceased animals that had not been properly disposed of.

Sidewalk construction to start soon
The village awarded contractor Nardulli Construction Company, Inc. the project to redo stretches of sidewalk around the village at a July 22 council meeting. . Nardulli Construction was one of six contractors to bid on the project to replace sidewalks and curbs around the village. The contractor bid $45,520 when Christopher B. Burke Engineering, the village engineer, estimated the project to cost $60,200. Burke Engineering also reviewed the bid documents.
