Patricia Gonzalez's Athena, once a destination for board game enthusiasts, shuttered its doors at 1418 W. Howard St. last year. Reflecting on the move, Gonzalez expressed intentions to transplant the interactive cafe experience to a new home in Rogers Park, fortuitously at the historic site once housing Heartland Cafe. "We expect to offer the same products and services that our customers appreciated in the first location in a new, modern building," Gonzalez told the Chicago Sun-Times, charting a course for Athena's reemergence.

OP Trustees hire firm to create economic vitality plan
Oak Park is working to bolster its economy and ensure both short- and long-term vitality by hiring Camoin Associates, Inc. to create a comprehensive plan. It will take about seven months to create the plan, beginning in July 2024.
