Vikes’ playoff foiled by Independence
An early deficit proved to be too much for the Decorah baseball team Friday as the Vikes hosted Independence (14-20) in the Class 3A Substate 3 quarterfinals. It was the second meeting for the two squads this season on Olejniczak field with the Mustangs taking this one as well, 7-5. Decorah ends the season 22-15.
Decorah softball team wraps up final week 2-2
In the final week of the regular season, the Decorah softball team (10-17, 7-8 NEIC) came up with a pair of Northeast Iowa Conference wins to finish third in the league. Originally scheduled for Tuesday, July 2, Mother Nature finally allowed the Vikes to host Crestwood (12-14, 5-9 NEIC) for the conference doubleheader Thursday, July 4, with softball fans celebrating the holiday at the diamond as the NEIC teams split the day.
