Thousands without power across Rochester area due to thunderstorms
Thousands of homes and businesses in the Rochester area are without power as thunderstorms continue to sweep across the area. RG&E is asking people on the west side of Canandaigua Lake to reduce their energy use until 9 p.m. Tuesday by turning off air conditioners and other non-essential appliances. The utility said, due to extensive pole damage, it will have to create an outage disrupting service into Wednesday night if usage is not reduced.
