OZAUKEE COUNTY – Two people who died when a boat capsized in Lake Michigan July 15 have been identified by the Ozaukee County Sheriff’s Office.
The 50-year-old man has been identified as Brian Weinski and the 51-year-old woman has been identified as Erin Hartman, both from Machesney Park, Illinois, near Rockford. The two were dating.
The 26-year-old man who survived the incident was identified as a Beloit resident.
The U.S. Coast Guard received a mayday call of a sinking vessel off the shore of Port Washington in the evening July 15, and emergency personnel responded to the scene. A good Samaritan also responded after hearing a distress call over the radio.
The two individuals from Illinois were found unresponsive and did not survive lifesaving efforts.

It was determined the 177 model and 17-foot 2008 Triton fishing boat overturned when it was struck by a wave. The boat was registered to one of the victims, according to the sheriff’s office.
A boater found the unoccupied and overturned boat about 5 miles north of the Port Washington Marina July 18. The boat was towed to the Port Washington Marina and removed.
