‘Aging with Vitality’: Graceland hosting event for people in their golden years
PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) — Sometimes aging or watching our loved ones age can be scary. But becoming old or seasoned in life does not mean one has to become weak or meek. Graceland Center for Purposeful Aging has just the event for the elderly people in the Greater Peoria area. On Saturday, the senior center is hosting Aging with Vitality. People aged 50 and older can enjoy a day of carnival games, a silent auction, a cake and prize walk and picnic foods.
Cain to run in honor of Jackman
Seven years have passed since Conner Cain lost his best friend, Sam Jackman, to leukemia. To honor Jackman, Cain will participate in the St. Jude Canton to Peoria Run on Saturday. The annual charity event is a 33.3-mile run from Canton, Illinois to Peoria, Illinois. It is one of several community running events that are part of the St. Jude Runs campaign. Money raised will help support families of children fighting cancer at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee.
