This urgent care closes in Madison while another plans to open by end of summer

American Family Care in Madison has closed.

The urgent care facility had been open on Madison Avenue since 2022 but had been experiencing sporadic hours of operation for the past six months.

On the week of July 15, a notice was placed outside the Madison location that it had closed and directed customers to its other location in the area in Ridgeland, near Costco.

Multiple phone calls to the Ridgeland location, asking for comment were not returned and calls to the corporate office in Birmingham have not been returned.

In an email to customers, sent Wednesday, AFC said, "At AFC Ridgeland, we’re excited to announce that all our exceptional services are now available under one roof! By consolidating our two clinics into one state-of-the-art location, we ensure that you receive the highest quality care in a spacious, comfortable environment designed with your well-being in mind."

The AFC at 710 Highland Colony Parkway in front of Costco was the first AFC in Mississippi. The Madison location opened shortly after.

Daniel McFatter is listed as the independent owner and operator of AFC Ridgeland.

Trustcare location to open in Madison

The AFC closing in Madison coincides with a large Trustcare facility readying to open just down the street.

Three separate TrustCare clinics in one location are planned in Madison at the former Rite-Aid Pharmacy at U.S. 51 and Madison Avenue, which is now under construction and is expected to be finished by the end of the summer.

That facility will include a children's clinic, as well as a primary clinic and an adult urgent care clinic.

TrustCare has 11 locations in Mississippi, most of which are in the Jackson metro area, with the latest being a TrustCare Kids along U.S. 80 in Brandon which opened in November 2023 adjacent to another TrustCare clinic in Brandon. The two outside the metro area are urgent care facilities in Hattesburg and Laurel.
