Nebraska softball announces portion of non-conference schedule for 2025
The Nebraska softball team has announced a portion of their 2025 non-conference schedule. The team enters the season after posting a 30-23 record for the 2024 campaign. After seeing the same number depart the program, the Huskers have added ten new players to their roster this season. As of July 15, the roster features 24 players, with 13 returning players, six transfers, and four freshmen. The team announced four of the five non-conference tournaments they will play early in the season. Feb. 14-16: Troy Cox Classic – Las Cruces, NM Feb. 20-23: Mary Nutter Collegiate Classic – Cathedral City, CA Feb. 28-March 2: Wichita State Tournament – Wichita, KS March 7-9: Big Red Spring Fling – Bowlin Stadium The 2025 season will see the Big Ten welcome three new programs to the league: Oregon, Washington, and UCLA. USC is also joining the conference, but that school does not have a softball program. Revelle and Sip are taking quick road trips! See you there future Huskers. Lincoln Woman’s Death Investigation Has Been Closed
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 16)–The investigation into a Lincoln woman’s death after she fell out of a window in late March has been concluded. According to Lincoln Police, they were unable to determine what led up to the death of 58-year-old DeAnn Stover, who fell out of a window and was found unconscious at a home near 27th and Heide Lane on March 27. The autopsy determined Stover died from blunt force trauma from the fall.

Nebraska offers scholarship to junior college power forward
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have offered a scholarship to a top junior college player. Xavier Edmonds is a class of 2025 power forward from Salt Lake (Utah) C.C. Last season, he appeared in 32 games, averaging 20.8 minutes per appearance. Edmonds also averaged 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. The 6-foot-8 power forward shot 55% from the field, 31% from the three-point line, and 66% from the free-throw line. The California native was a three-star prospect coming out of high school in 2023. Top 2026 athlete to visit Nebraska at the end of the month
One of the top athletes in the class of 2026 will visit the Nebraska Cornhuskers later this month. Brandon Arrington is a cornerback/wide receiver from Mount Miguel High School out of Spring Valley, California. Arrington will visit Oklahoma on July 26th, Nebraska on July 27th, and Alabama on July 28th. During his Sophomore season, he made 14 receptions for 310 yards and four touchdowns. He also recorded 25 tackles on the year. Arrington is also an accomplished sprinter, recording times of 10.43 in the 100-meter dash and 20.76 in the 200-meter dash. According to three of the four primary recruiting services, the recruit is currently ranked as the No. 1 athlete in the class of 2026. The Huskers currently hold no commitments to their 2026 recruiting class. Late Score Costs McCook MNB Seniors After Late Charge From Norton
Monday's game against Norton Varsity American Legion was a heartbreaker for McCook MNB Seniors, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat at Norton. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when Logan Willour lined out, scoring one run. McCook MNB Seniors lost despite out-hitting Norton nine to five. Simon Garcia led McCook MNB Seniors with three hits. McCook MNB Seniors got on the board in the top of the third inning after Quentin Terry singled, and Norton committed an error, each scoring one run. Norton jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after McCook MNB Seniors committed an error, Kai Cop reached on catcher's interference, and Collin Springer hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. McCook MNB Seniors took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Garcia doubled, and Terry was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Norton went back into the lead after Springer singled, and Willour lined out, each scoring one run. Trenton Raile opened the game for McCook MNB Seniors. They surrendered five hits and five runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Jaden Boyle led things off on the bump for Norton. They surrendered seven hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking one. Garcia led McCook MNB Seniors with one run batted in. They went 3-for-4 on the day. Terry collected two hits for McCook MNB Seniors in three at bats. Miles Pollmann stole two bases. Springer went 1-for-4 at the plate as the leadoff hitter led the team with two runs batted in. Ryan Prewo, Owen Hammond, Springer, Tyler Stewart, and Cop each collected one hit for Norton. McCook MNB Seniors will travel to Minden for their next game on Friday.
