Lincoln Police warn of fake social media post involving missing boy
LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Lincoln Police wants the public to be aware of a fake social media post involving a missing boy circulating online. Police said they have received multiple reports on Tuesday about a photo posted in a buy/sell/trade Facebook group claiming a young boy is missing in Lincoln.
Nebraska offers scholarship to junior college power forward
The Nebraska Cornhuskers have offered a scholarship to a top junior college player. Xavier Edmonds is a class of 2025 power forward from Salt Lake (Utah) C.C. Last season, he appeared in 32 games, averaging 20.8 minutes per appearance. Edmonds also averaged 14.0 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists per game. The 6-foot-8 power forward shot 55% from the field, 31% from the three-point line, and 66% from the free-throw line. The California native was a three-star prospect coming out of high school in 2023. OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A South Omaha man says he shot and killed a man who was violent and refused leave his home early Tuesday morning. Police arrived at a residence near 51st and Q streets in Omaha around 2:30 a.m. to find 40-year-old Nicholas Gomez inside the house — he’d been shot to death.
Gage County deputies responding to report of shots, find male dead
BEATRICE – County law officers responding to a report of shots fired in Wymore found a man dead….but do not suspect foul play. Gage County deputies Monday morning just after 7:30, were sent to a home in the 300-block of North 7th in Wymore, after a report of shots being fired from one of the apartments there.
Lincoln Woman’s Death Investigation Has Been Closed
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 16)–The investigation into a Lincoln woman’s death after she fell out of a window in late March has been concluded. According to Lincoln Police, they were unable to determine what led up to the death of 58-year-old DeAnn Stover, who fell out of a window and was found unconscious at a home near 27th and Heide Lane on March 27. The autopsy determined Stover died from blunt force trauma from the fall.
Late Score Costs McCook MNB Seniors After Late Charge From Norton
Monday's game against Norton Varsity American Legion was a heartbreaker for McCook MNB Seniors, as they lost the lead late in a 5-4 defeat at Norton. The game was tied at four in the bottom of the sixth when Logan Willour lined out, scoring one run. McCook MNB Seniors lost despite out-hitting Norton nine to five. Simon Garcia led McCook MNB Seniors with three hits. McCook MNB Seniors got on the board in the top of the third inning after Quentin Terry singled, and Norton committed an error, each scoring one run. Norton jumped back into the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning after McCook MNB Seniors committed an error, Kai Cop reached on catcher's interference, and Collin Springer hit into a fielder's choice, each scoring one run. McCook MNB Seniors took the lead in the top of the sixth inning after Garcia doubled, and Terry was struck by a pitch, each scoring one run. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Norton went back into the lead after Springer singled, and Willour lined out, each scoring one run. Trenton Raile opened the game for McCook MNB Seniors. They surrendered five hits and five runs (one earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking one. Jaden Boyle led things off on the bump for Norton. They surrendered seven hits and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out none and walking one. Garcia led McCook MNB Seniors with one run batted in. They went 3-for-4 on the day. Terry collected two hits for McCook MNB Seniors in three at bats. Miles Pollmann stole two bases. Springer went 1-for-4 at the plate as the leadoff hitter led the team with two runs batted in. Ryan Prewo, Owen Hammond, Springer, Tyler Stewart, and Cop each collected one hit for Norton. McCook MNB Seniors will travel to Minden for their next game on Friday.

Man arrested for robbery, obstruction
On Thursday morning at around 10, Norfolk Police responded to the 1300 block of Impala Drive for a report of an assault. According to Capt. Mike Bauer, the alleged male victim said he saw a man looking into his neighbor’s car and confronted him. He said the suspect responded by putting his fists up and into a boxer's stance.
11 NE lawmakers to host Lincoln, Omaha listening sessions on property taxes
LINCOLN — Eleven lawmakers will host two listening sessions on property taxes in the state’s two most populous cities after Nebraska Gov. Jim Pillen opted out of doing so. Pillen, in his quest to reform property taxes, crisscrossed the state, visiting 26 cities in May and June for town halls to pitch his evolving reform plans. He asked Nebraskans to offer feedback and to pressure state senators to support his ideas, although senators later said they received little feedback.
