5 dogs abandoned in NJ home, in nailed-shut closets with cig burns
IRVINGTON — Five neglected pit bulls were rescued from an abandoned home in the Essex County Township, according to a report by News 12. The Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption in Cranford was first alerted to two dogs left outside the property on July 3. Upon further investigation, rescuers went into the house and found three other pit bulls in the basement, nailed inside closets with no food and water, said The Best Friend Dog and Animal Adoption president, Lauren Denoma.

CHATHAM, NJ -- Chatham's enrollment is holding steady at 3,525 students heading into the upcoming 2024-2025 school year as reported by Mary Donohue, assistant superintendent, at the July 15 regular meeting of the Chatham Board of Education. Police: Elizabeth woman arrested in Guttenberg for kicking police officer
An Elizabeth woman was arrested in Guttenberg for kicking a police officer after authorities responded to a call of her being an unwanted guest in a home. On Sunday, July 14th, members of the Guttenberg Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the area of 68th Street and Madison Street on a report of an unwanted party in a residence, the department wrote in their police blotter.

UNION, NJ - Family and friends gathered together on Saturday to celebrate the 100th birthday of longtime Union resident Mary Izzo. Izzo was born on July 17, 1924. She moved from Newark to Union in 1965.
