Union Education Assoc. to Host Annual Town-Wide Block Party
UNION, NJ - A "Town-Wide Block Party", hosted by the Union Township Education Association (UTEA), is set for Tuesday, August 13, in Rabkin Park for all Union residents. "The UTEA tries to find ways to interact with our community," said Ann Margaret Shannon, UTEA President. “The UTEA is excited to mingle and share music, fun, games and a meal with our community."CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR THE FREE TAPINTO.NET NEWSLETTER The fun will include music by a DJ, children’s games and bouncy houses, and a health fair featuring Optical Academy, Zumba, kickboxing, and yoga. Residents five years and up will receive a $10 food voucher (while supplies last). Visitors are asked to bring food to donate to the food pantry and to bring lawn chairs. The event, in partnership with the Township of Union, the Union Township Transportation Association, the Union Fire Department, the Union Police Department, the Union Recreation Department, and Optical Academy, will run from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rabkin Park. Car Crashes on Hyatt Hills Golf Course in Clark
Clark, NJ — A single-vehicle accident occurred on the Hyatt Hills Golf Course, located at 1300 Raritan Rd, Sunday evening. HUDSON COUNTY, NJ – The Hudson County Sheriff’s Office will be cracking down on drivers impaired by alcohol or drugs on Thursday, July 25th, by conducting a DWI Checkpoint in the area of Kennedy Blvd and Manhattan Ave in Jersey City. Cranford Police Department's Youth Academy Was a Rousing Success
CRANFORD, NJ – Last week, Cranford Police Department hosted their annual Youth Academy which provides middle-school participants with hands-on exposure to various aspects of law enforcement. The Youth Academy offered 40 local Cranford cadets the unique opportunity to get a behind-the-scenes look at law enforcement and gain valuable life skills along the way. “Our goal is to give these kids a real sense of what it means to be a police officer,” said Detective Ali Muhammad, organizer of this year’s academy. Highlights of the week included the New Jersey State Police’s helicopter presentation and a visit from the U.S. Secret Service. The program also covered important topics such as drug awareness, internet safety, and bullying prevention given by CPD’s Juvenile Detectives and Investigation Bureau. Heningburg brothers enjoying great lacrosse year
MAPLEWOOD/SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Maplewood natives Jules Heningburg and his brother, Dylan Heningburg, are enjoying great years in lacrosse. Jules, a 2014 Seton Hall Prep graduate, currently is playing professionally in the Premier Lacrosse League as a member of the Carolina Chaos. Jules, an attackman, has scored eight goals and added seven assists in five games played through June 29.

IRVINGTON — Five neglected pit bulls were rescued from an abandoned home in the Essex County Township, according to a report by News 12.
