Lots Annexed for Kwik Star Construction, Trees to be Burned by Trojan Village
During Monday’s regular Madison City Commission meeting, commissioners approved a resolution to annex Lot 1 and 2 of Schultz’s Second Addition. The lots are located directly to the south of Prostrollo’s, across 10th Street SE. The location is set to be developed into a Kwik Star convenience store.
New Location for Fireworks by Lake Herman This Year
For years families in Madison have gathered near Lake Herman to take in the 4th of July fireworks show, that’s been traditionally shot from the Isaac Walton’s League grounds on the Northeast corner of the lake. But that show will have a new location this year, says Madison Area Chamber of Commerce Director Eric Hortness.
Commissioners Choose to Let ATV and Dirt Bike Ordinance Die
Madison will, for now, not pursue an ordinance regulating ATV and dirt bike use in the city. The City Commission approved a First Reading of the ordinance at their last meeting in June. It came about after complaints were made to police about their use at at least one residence in town. At the time, commissioners said they wanted to receive more public comment before giving the ordinance final approval.
City to Consider 2nd Reading of ATV Ordinance
The Madison City Commission will hold a 2nd Reading today of an ordinance regulating the use of ATV’s and dirt bikes in the city. The 1st reading was held on June 20th. The ordinance would specify that ATVs or dirt bikes must remain at least 50 feet from any adjoining or adjacent property line, and must remain at least 100 feet from an off-site residential dwelling. It also would prohibit the recreational use of an ATV or dirt bike between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 8:00a.m. There would also be limitations set regarding speed, dust, and the use of ATVs or dirt bikes in environmentally sensitive areas, such as streams, creeks, waterways, drainage ways, wetlands and erosion-sensitive areas.
City Agrees to Long Term Water Tower Maintenance Contract
The City of Madison approved a long term water tower maintenance contract, during Monday’s City Commission meeting. The winning bid for the contract came from Utility Service Group. County Commission approves fireworks permit, other items
The Lake County Commission approved a firework display permit for Village Creek Inc. for late July at its Tuesday meeting. The commission approved the public display permit application for consumer fireworks to be shot off from the grounds of the Wilbur-Ellis Company in Chester on July 27, at 10 p.m. This is part of a three-day Village Creek Days celebration, set for July 26-28.
