Entries for the World Dairy Expo’s dairy cattle show are now being accepted.

Registrations, which are online only at worlddairyexpo.com, have a Sept. 2 deadline. Late entries carry an additional fee, can be submitted though Sept. 15.

Billed as the “meeting place of the global dairy industry, the expo is scheduled for Sunday, Sept. 29 through Friday, Oct. 4 in Madison. The full schedule is available on the expo’s website. There are some changes, including the Parade of Champions being split into two events.

The Junior and Open Show Supreme Champion Heifers will take place on Thursday night, following selection of the International Holstein Show’s junior champion. The Junior and Open Show Supreme Champion Cows will stay on Friday.

In making the announcement about show entries, the organizers did note that they are “closely monitoring” the spread of avian flu through cattle herds. They are in contact with both state and federal officials, and will share any new information or directives as they become available.
