MADISON – The last time Serah Williams made news was mid-April when she announced that she underwent surgery to repair her right meniscus, an injury she suffered during Wisconsin’s loss to St. Louis in the Great 8 of the WNIT.

Friday, the news was much better.

The 6-foot-4 junior forward was named to the USA U23 3x3 Women’s Nations League team that will play at the FIBA 3x3 Nations League Americas Conference on July 22-28 in Mexico City, Mexico.

In addition to it being good news about the state of her health, Williams' inclusion on the team is another significant accomplishment in what has been a breakout year for the New York (Brooklyn) native.

Williams averaged 17.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.8 blocks per game for UW last season. She broke a Big Ten record with 17 straight double doubles and finished the year with 19. She was also Wisconsin's first first-team All-Big Ten selection in 10 years.

The six player roster also includes Ohio State’s Cotie McMahon, Iowa’s Lucy Olsen, Maryland’s Christina Dalce, LSU’s Mikaylah Williams and Creighton’s Morgan Maly.

The team will begin training camp in Phoenix during WNBA all-star weekend in two weeks and play an exhibition against Team WNBA on July 19 before heading to Mexico City.
