Former Wisconsin running back Braelon Allen is making an early impact at New York Jets training camp.

Jets writers and others in attendance are already expressing surprise about his combination of size and speed — something Badgers fans were made well aware of during Allen’s breakout true freshman season as a 17-year-old.

Here are a few quotes from those in attendance at Monday’s practice:

    • “Braelon Allen had a couple really nice runs to start practice here. He’s a player I think fans should be excited about. Curious how he’s used” -SNY’s Connor Hughes
    • “The good: Braelon Allen standing out” -The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt
    • “Braelon Allen running through multiple arm tackles for a massive gain..the rookie has been extremely impressive since being drafted” -NFL analyst Will Parkinson
    • “He’s heavy. Very smart, fluid, good out of the backfield, really good in pass protection already for a rookie…Braelon’s really smooth out of the backfield with his hands. So, he’s got a chance, he’s just gotta keep working.” -Jets head coach Robert Saleh

The Jets social media team was also sure to join the positive sentiment surrounding Allen’s training camp performance.

Allen projects to enter his rookie NFL season as the Jets No. 2 running back behind star Breece Hall. He is expected to have a role from the start, one that should only grow as he continues to show his talent.
