HENDERSON, Ky. (WEHT) – Officers with the Madisonville Police Department (MPD) said they arrested a wanted man before a suspected shooting was close to being carried out.

According to a news release, officers saw a white male walking at 9:14 a.m. on Monday near West Broadway Street and Lawrence Street in Madisonville and were aware the man had an active warrant for his arrest. The man was identified as 36-year-old Charles Pillow.

Pillow was immediately taken into custody, according to MPD, and he allegedly had a loaded gun in his back pocket and was under the influence of alcohol.

Officials said Pillow “made multiple spontaneous utterances” about shooting a male subject , but “his plan was thwarted by law enforcement’s intervention.”

Pillow was reportedly about a block away from the intended victim’s home, the news release said.
