Magna invests its small-town charm into its annual 4th of July 5K race
Every year Joe Hastings runs the Magna 4th of July 5K dressed head to toe in the stars and stripes. To him, it’s simple. Hastings grew up in Magna and has been running for as long as he can remember. His dad used to run this race when it first got started in the 80s. It was a pretty small event for a while but “has gotten really, really popular within the last six, seven, years. Across the whole valley, across the whole state,” he said.

CU Buffs opponent preview: Behind healthy Cameron Rising, Utah favored to win Big 12 title
A second consecutive trip to the Rose Bowl, on Jan. 2, 2023, could not have ended any worse for the Utah football team. The 35-21 defeat against Penn State was disappointing, but losing quarterback Cameron Rising to a severe knee injury in the third quarter was devastating. Rising tore the ACL, MCL, MPFL and meniscus in his knee and wound up missing the entire 2023 season, which led to a subpar year for the Utes.

Utah Jazz appear to be stuck in NBA purgatory after botching yet another rebuild
In October of 2022, I wrote a Journal column declaring that the Utah Jazz needed to trade their last two veteran pieces, Mike Conley and Jordan Clarkson, and go into all-out “tank mode” in order to improve their chances to get the first pick in the 2023 NBA draft — and a shot at Victor Wembanyama, considered one of the best draft prospects ever. A month later, with the Jazz clinging firmly to both Clarkson and Conley, as well as the best record in the...
PFF Lists Utah’s Brant Kuithe as Top Returning Tight End
With the college football season less than two months away, PFF released its top returning players at each position in 2024. At the tight end position, Utah’s Brant Kuithe came in at No. 3 after missing last season with an injury, so the last time the 6-foot-2 offensive threat took the field was in 2022.
