Drug kingpin who fled area returns after being captured by U.S. Marshals
Michael Daniels Jr., a 43-year-old man from Sugarcreek Borough, was captured by U.S. Marshals in Detroit, Michigan, after fleeing the state. Daniels, accused of being the kingpin of a local drug-dealing organization primarily operating in Oil City, with activities in Franklin and Sugarcreek, was arrested on June 24 and returned to Venango County to face charges. Police Chief Bob Wenner reported that Daniels’ operation involved multiple houses and several accomplices, all from Detroit, who had been previously arrested. A joint task force with the Pennsylvania Attorney General’s Drug Task Force conducted a search warrant at Daniels’ residence, uncovering large quantities of crack cocaine and crystal methamphetamine. Daniels faces numerous felony charges, including conspiracy and drug manufacturing. He is being held without bail in Venango County Jail, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Wednesday. The investigation involved multiple law enforcement agencies and the Pennsylvania District Attorney’s Office.
