A former Mississippi Park Commission treasurer was arrested for reportedly embezzling public funds for her personal use.

State Auditor Shad White announced today the arrest of Megan Berry, the former Treasurer of the Caledonia Park Commission (CPC). Special Agents from the State Auditor’s office apprehended Berry on one count of embezzlement.

Berry is alleged to have misappropriated public funds entrusted to her through her role with the CPC, diverting the money for her personal use.

“We remain committed to working with prosecutors on cases of all sizes to deliver results for taxpayers,” said Auditor White. “This dedication has led to the recovery of more funds in the last six years than during any other similar period. I extend my gratitude to the investigators who played a crucial role in uncovering this scheme.”

If convicted, Berry could face up to $25,000 in fines and a maximum of 10 years in prison. It is important to note that all individuals arrested by the Mississippi Office of the State Auditor are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

The public is encouraged to report suspected fraud to the Auditor’s office. Reports can be submitted online by clicking the red button at www.osa.ms.gov or by calling 1-(800)-321-1275 during regular business hours.
